K-12 Gifted and Talented
I graduated from Friona High School in 1979. I attended Wayland Baptist University for one year and transferred to Texas Tech University. I graduated from Texas Tech University in 1982. I received my Kindergarten endorsement from WTAMU.
I have a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics with a Kindergarten Endorsement from West Texas University. I have an ESL Certification. I have 30 hours of Gifted Education.
I have over 30 hours of Gifted and Talented credit. I have attended the TAGT conference. I attend technology workshops when needed.
I started teaching in Friona in 1986. This is my 28th year in the Friona school system. I taught Home Economics 1 year and then I began teaching Kindergarten. I have taught Kindergarten for 24 years and am now teaching Gifted and Talented K-5.
I started teaching in September 1983. I taught Home Economics in Dimmitt, Texas for 2 years. I taught kindergarten for 24 years. I have been teaching Gifted and Talented the last 6 years.
My husband is Mitchell Smiley. My husband and I both graduated from Friona High. He is the Farm Bureau Manager in Friona. We got married in 1983. We have 5 children. They all went to Friona and graduated as a Friona Chieftain.
I love to do things with my family. I also love to play the piano. I have played for the Friona Choir under the direction of Allison Johnston and John Bonner.
